Officer Jacob Candanoza, 28, was killed in the line of duty after being shot during a traffic stop in Texas. Candanoza requested additional units for assistance during the stop, but was shot before backup could arrive. He was taken to a hospital but ultimately died from his injuries. Candanoza had been with the Terrell Police Department since July 2024 and is survived by his wife and child. A suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Kaufman County Detention Center, although the investigation is ongoing and the suspect’s name has not been released. The suspect is a 25-year-old man from Mississippi who was apprehended at an RV park in Canton, Texas. The department expressed their condolences to Candanoza’s family during this tragic time.
