Detective Allan Reddins of the Oak Park Police Department in Illinois was killed in the line of duty while responding to a report of an armed suspect leaving a bank. Reddins was shot in the left side by the suspect, who was also shot in the leg and taken into custody. Reddins was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the suspect remains in stable condition. The Oak Park Police Department extended their condolences to Reddins’ family and colleagues following the tragic incident. Reddins, 40, had been with the department since May 2019 and his death was the first line of duty death for the department since 1938. The incident has left the law enforcement community in mourning and the local community in shock at the senseless act of violence. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and details about the suspect have not been released.
