Malik Nabers, Giants’ first-round pick, limited in practice due to knee injury

New York Giants first-round draft pick Malik Nabers was limited at practice on Thursday due to a knee issue, following his impressive debut in the NFL. Nabers, who had five catches for 66 yards in his first regular-season game, did not mention the injury to reporters. Additionally, veteran receiver Darius Slayton returned to practice after clearing the concussion protocol.

Nabers is looking forward to facing Washington on Sunday, led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was his teammate at LSU. Despite their friendship off the field, Nabers is focused on winning the game. Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen praised Daniels for his performance in the previous game.

Although the Giants did not throw the ball deep in their season opener, Nabers is eager to contribute whenever the ball is thrown his way. Meanwhile, Giants outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen underwent surgery for a broken leg sustained during a game. Several players, including CB Nick McCloud and Gunner Olszewski, did not practice due to injuries.

The team is preparing for their upcoming game against Washington, with special teams coach Michael Ghobrial considering whether new signing Ihmir Smith-Marsette will return punts. Despite some setbacks, the Giants are determined to bounce back from their loss in the previous game.
