A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces broke the WNBA’s single-season scoring record with 27 points in a game against the Indiana Fever, helping her team to their 14th consecutive win in the series. Wilson surpassed Jewell Loyd’s previous record of 939 points in just 35 games and finished the game with 956 points for the season, potentially becoming the first player to reach 1,000 in a year. The Aces defeated the Fever 86-75, with Wilson scoring eight straight points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
In another game, the Washington Mystics beat the Chicago Sky 89-58 with strong performances from Aaliyah Edwards and Brittney Sykes, moving them within one game of a playoff spot. Washington shot 50% from the field and limited Chicago to a season-low 58 points. The Mystics have now beaten the Sky three times in four meetings this season.
The Seattle Storm also emerged victorious, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 90-82 behind Skylar Diggins-Smith’s 26 points. Gabby Williams contributed 17 points, with 13 coming in the second quarter. Seattle remains within one game of fourth place Las Vegas in the standings and will face the Sparks again on Sunday. Nneka Ogwumike of the Sparks moved into 11th place on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list during the game.
