A two-alarm fire broke out in Woodbridge, Va., seriously damaging a youth sports complex. The fire started on the exterior side of a single-family home on Devil’s Reach Road and quickly spread to the nearby Kids Choice Sports building on Sport and Health Drive. Fire officials called for a second and third alarm as the fire expanded, with brush and other combustibles fueling its growth. Thankfully, the sports building was not heavily occupied at the time, and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the initial fire is still under investigation, and fire crews are currently on-site clearing and investigating the damage. Three adults from the home on Devil’s Reach Road have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
The community is saddened by the impact of the fire on the youth sports complex, a popular destination for local athletes and families. It remains to be seen how the damage will affect future activities and events at the facility.
As the investigation continues, residents and supporters of the youth sports complex are hopeful for a swift recovery and restoration of the beloved community space. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the fire to come forward to aid in the investigation.
