LOS ANGELES – Giancarlo Stanton, a Los Angeles native, returned to Dodger Stadium during the World Series opener between the Yankees and Dodgers and continued his streak of hitting home runs in his hometown. Despite his go-ahead two-run blast in the sixth inning, Stanton’s efforts were not enough as the Yankees fell to the Dodgers 6-3 in a thrilling 10-inning game.
Stanton, often criticized by Yankees fans, has been on a tear in the postseason, hitting six home runs and tallying 13 RBIs so far. His determination to win a World Series championship has been evident throughout October.
Raised near Dodger Stadium, Stanton has a history of hitting impressive home runs in his hometown ballpark. With 10 homers in 25 regular-season games at Chavez Ravine, Stanton is among the few players who have hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium.
After signing a lucrative contract with the Marlins and subsequently joining the Yankees, Stanton has faced injury setbacks but has shown resilience in his performance this season.
