Howard County police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at a shopping center in Columbia over the weekend, leaving two teenage boys injured. The incident took place in the parking lot of the shopping center on Centre Park Drive around 9 p.m. Both victims, aged 16 and 17, were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the shooting happened in the parking lot but currently have no information on the suspect involved. Police do not believe this incident is connected to the death of a man found shot in the same parking lot earlier that morning. The man, identified as 26-year-old Kendrick McLellan, was discovered inside a car parked behind an office building around 2:15 a.m. The circumstances surrounding his death, including the timing of the shooting, remain unknown.
