Commanders’ division lead propelled by QB Daniels

The Washington Commanders have been the surprise of the season, sitting atop the NFC East with a 4-1 record led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels has been the standout player for the Commanders, leading an offense that has scored 20 or more points in each game and has averaged 34 points in their last three games. The defense has also improved after a rocky start, allowing fewer than 18 points in three of their last four games.

On offense, Daniels has emerged as one of the best rookie quarterbacks in the league, showcasing his pocket awareness and ability to make plays with both his arm and legs. Running back Brian Robinson Jr has been a key contributor, ranking second in the league in rushing touchdowns. The offense ranks second in points per game, 14th in passing yards per game, and second in rushing yards per game.

Defensively, the Commanders have shown improvement but still have areas to work on, particularly against strong quarterbacks and offenses. They rank 20th in points allowed per game and 13th in passing yards allowed per game. However, their upcoming schedule against weaker offenses could provide an opportunity for the defense to continue to improve.

With the NFC East looking weaker than expected, the Commanders have a real shot at winning the division title. While their offense has been a force to be reckoned with, the defense will need to step up if they hope to make a deep playoff run. The performance of Jayden Daniels and the continued improvement of the defense will be key factors in determining the Commanders’ success in the remainder of the season.
