Washington D.C. Councilmember Trayon White pleaded not guilty to federal bribery charges for allegedly accepting $156,000 in bribes to influence D.C. agencies. The arraignment took place at the U.S. District Courthouse, where White’s defense attorney entered the plea on his behalf. The charges allege White used his position to secure contracts for an associate to prevent violence. White has not publicly responded to the allegations and his attorney remained tight-lipped about the evidence involved in the case. White has been indicted on the federal bribery charge and his case will continue in November. Despite leaving the courthouse without answering questions from reporters, White maintains his innocence as the legal process unfolds.
