During an all-hands call with campaign staffers, Biden reiterated that he is not considering stepping down and emphasized the need for Democratic unity. Vice President Kamala Harris also expressed full support for Biden and emphasized the importance of standing together as Democrats.
Various meetings and calls took place with key figures like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and former Speaker Jim Clyburn, showing a unified front of support for Biden. White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients also urged staffers to focus on executing the president’s agenda and to stay disciplined amid external pressures.
The event with the governors came after a call organized by Democratic Governors Association Chair Tim Walz, further solidifying support for Biden from state executives. Fundraising efforts and campaign events in battleground states were also highlighted as part of the strategy to keep the race steady despite criticism and calls for Biden to step down.
