WWE Legend Ric Flair Diagnosed with Skin Cancer
Wrestling icon Ric Flair has announced he has been diagnosed with skin cancer, a challenge he is facing at the age of 76. The news was shared through a post by his friend and talent manager, Anthony Maurizio, which Flair reshared in an Instagram Story on June 6.
Maurizio revealed that Flair is grappling with denial and the emotional toll of biopsies and ongoing tests related to his diagnosis. This isn’t Flair’s first battle with health issues; he previously endured a traumatic coma, making this news hit even harder. Maurizio also referenced a recent conflict between Flair and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who announced his own colon cancer diagnosis in May. He emphasized the significance of their shared history, stating, “Ric treasures his career-long friendship with Jim Ross… hearing Jim face similar struggles stirred deep fears.”
In an interview with People, Flair disclosed that this marks the "second time in three years" he is contending with skin cancer and mentioned he is scheduled to begin treatment next week. Known as “The Nature Boy,” Flair has had a storied career, but it has been marked by significant health struggles, including kidney failure and heart issues attributed to decades of alcohol abuse.
Reflecting on his health, Flair expressed that his current battle feels unlike any previous experience he has faced, noting, “I crashed in an airplane and broke my back… but this is totally different.”
As fans rally around the wrestling legend, Maurizio called for support, urging compassion and solidarity among all those fighting health battles. Flair is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, inducted in both 2008 and 2012, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
