Herndon Mother Warns of Dangerous TikTok Challenge Involving Gel Blasters
HERNDON, Va. – A mother from Herndon is raising alarms about a hazardous TikTok challenge involving "orbital blasters," a type of toy gun that shoots gel bullets. Jessica Lampman claims her daughter was severely injured during an incident at Arrowbrook Centre Park, sustaining welts all over her legs.
On May 26, Fairfax County police received reports of seven to eight teenagers shooting gel blasters in the park. Although officers responded, no one was found at the scene and no official police report has been filed yet.
Lampman shared images of her daughter’s injuries with FOX 5, illustrating dozens of painful welts covering her child’s legs. In an exclusive interview, she recounted how her daughter, a middle school student, was cornered by an older teen and repeatedly shot with an orbital blaster. After the encounter, the frightened girl sought refuge at a nearby business and called her mother for help.
Expressing her concern, Lampman warns other parents about the potential dangers associated with these toy guns, which she believes are part of an emerging TikTok challenge. "Be careful with the items or toys that you give your child," she advised. "This toy was used as a weapon and inflicted both physical and emotional harm on my daughter."
Fairfax County police stated that a police report should be filed to allow for a proper investigation of any alleged assault. Lampman intends to pursue this action to ensure accountability.
As the issue gains attention, parents are urged to remain vigilant about the toys their children are using, as seemingly harmless items can have severe consequences.
