Press Release: 18-Year-Old Charged in Shooting Incident in Lorton, Fairfax County
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – An 18-year-old has been charged following a shooting incident involving his girlfriend’s father in Lorton, according to local police. The confrontation occurred late Monday evening, just before 10 p.m. on East Hill Drive.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital in life-threatening condition but has since been downgraded to non-life-threatening status.
Investigators revealed that the suspect, identified as Christopher Cureton, engaged in a heated argument with the victim outside the latter’s residence. The argument escalated, resulting in Cureton discharging a firearm, which struck the victim. After the incident, he fled the scene.
Authorities located Cureton at a nearby residence and took him into custody without any resistance. He was subsequently transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Cureton faces charges of malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently held without bond.
