Video Purportedly Captures Teens Setting Fire to Maryland Man’s Truck with Him Inside

Investigation Intensifies in Davidsonville Murder Case Involving Local Teens

ANNE ARUNDEL, Md. — Authorities are delving into newly uncovered video evidence linked to the murder of 67-year-old Steve Koza, a businessman from Davidsonville. The footage reportedly captures two local teens, 18-year-old Jonah Poole and Kylee Dakes, setting Koza’s truck ablaze with him bound inside.

The suspects, facing multiple charges including first-degree murder, arson, and assault, allegedly committed the heinous act on May 24 outside Koza’s establishment, Tropic Bay Water Gardens. Reports indicate that Koza was bound with tape and placed in the back seat of his own vehicle before it was ignited. Surveillance footage from a nearby gas station reveals Dakes purchasing $10 worth of gasoline, believed to have been used in the deadly incident.

Both suspects have previous ties to the victim and local businesses. Notably, Poole once worked for Koza, while Dakes had employment at the nearby Pirate’s Cove Restaurant. Just days prior to Koza’s murder, Pirates Cove was the site of a burglary that resulted in substantial theft and property damage, and investigators are examining security footage from this incident as well.

The community is in shock, with local residents expressing disbelief over the crime. "That’s absolutely insane," remarked Danielle Schline, a county resident. Neighbors described Koza as a quiet, well-liked figure with few known relatives. The motive for the murder remains unclear, as the investigation continues.

Both suspects are currently being held without bond, as authorities piece together the connections between the individuals and the events leading to Koza’s tragic death.

This case raises pressing questions about safety in the community as investigators work diligently to uncover the truth behind this shocking crime.
