Virginia Attorney General Calls Out Loudoun County Schools Over Title IX Violations
WASHINGTON – Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares spoke exclusively with FOX 5 on Tuesday regarding his referral of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) to federal authorities. The referral follows an investigation into alleged Title IX violations, unlawful retaliation, and viewpoint discrimination.
Miyares claims LCPS improperly targeted three male students at Stone Bridge High School, not for any misconduct, but for expressing discomfort about sharing a locker room with a transgender student. He stressed that Title IX should not be weaponized against free speech or religious beliefs and highlighted the importance of allowing all students to voice their concerns without fear of repercussions.
"LCPS has exhibited both bad policy and poor judgment," Miyares stated. He noted a particular incident from March 19, where a student identifying as male entered the boys’ locker room and recorded three boys without their consent, violating school policy. Those boys, who asked the recording student to leave, were subsequently pulled into a Title IX investigation for alleged sex discrimination.
Miyares pointed out that the accusations against these students were unfounded after reviewing video evidence, which showed them merely requesting to be left alone. He criticized the school’s handling of the situation, arguing it exemplified misplaced priorities.
"This reflects a radical left-wing ideology," he said, asserting that common sense has been overshadowed by extreme views in the district’s policies. Miyares urged LCPS to adopt model policies proposed by Governor Glenn Youngkin, emphasizing the need for common-sense measures to protect students.
He concluded that current policies allowing biological boys in girls’ locker rooms defy reasonable judgment. The situation raises broader questions about student rights and safety in educational environments.
