Hazy Skies Persist Over Washington, D.C., Amid Ongoing Canadian Wildfires
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington, D.C. region is under a haze as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to linger, causing air quality concerns. According to FOX 5 meteorologist Taylor Grenda, Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to reach a warm 87 degrees, maintaining a humid feel throughout the day.
Morning temperatures started in the 50s and 60s, accompanied by a light breeze. However, humidity levels are set to rise as the week progresses. While conditions have improved slightly from the previous day, the smoky haze is expected to intensify on Thursday, with highs remaining warm and humid.
As the week unfolds, rain is predicted to arrive by Friday. Overnight temperatures will cool slightly to about 65 degrees, but the warm, humid pattern will return the following day. Isolated storms may also develop on Friday evening, leading into a potentially stormy Saturday. In contrast, Sunday is forecasted to be drier, with highs around 83 degrees.
Residents are urged to take precautions against wildfire smoke, including staying indoors, keeping windows shut, and ensuring pets are also kept inside. It’s recommended that those who must go outside limit exertion and consider wearing a respirator, like an N95 or P100 mask. For real-time air quality updates, individuals can visit airnow.gov.
