Blake Lively Withdraws Emotional Distress Claims Against Justin Baldoni Amid Legal Turmoil
In a dramatic turn of events, Blake Lively is seeking to withdraw her claims of infliction of emotional distress against actor Justin Baldoni. The actress, 37, previously accused Baldoni, 41, of both intentional and negligent emotional distress in a lawsuit filed in December 2024. The decision to backtrack follows Baldoni’s legal team’s request for Lively’s medical records, prompting her to reconsider the accusations.
Lively’s legal representative informed Baldoni’s team that she wishes to withdraw her claims without prejudice, meaning she retains the right to potentially resurrect them in the future. However, Baldoni’s attorneys argue that if she wishes to dismiss the claims, it should be with prejudice to prevent any re-filing down the line.
Baldoni’s team asserted that Lively’s refusal to provide medical documentation necessary to counter her claims raises further concerns. "If Ms. Lively is unwilling to stipulate to the dismissal of her IED Claims with prejudice, then the Wayfarer Parties will continue to defend against them," read a recent filing from Baldoni’s attorney, Kevin Fritz.
This initial lawsuit included serious allegations from Lively, including claims of sexual harassment and a coordinated attempt to damage her reputation while filming "It Ends With Us." Baldoni has vehemently denied all accusations and, in January, countersued both Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million, alleging defamation and extortion.
As the case continues, media coverage suggests that both parties are engaging in strategic maneuvers relevant to ongoing litigation. A trial is scheduled for March 2026, leaving many eager for updates on this unfolding legal battle.
