ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—In an electrifying match on Saturday night, the Chicago Fire defeated Orlando City 3-1, marking a solid performance that boosts their momentum in the league. Phillip Zinckernagel ignited the scoreboard early, scoring just five minutes into the game. He received a pass from Mauricio Pineda outside the box, unleashing a powerful shot that slipped past Orlando’s goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.
Hugo Cuypers then took center stage, netting two goals within a span of just two minutes. His first, a one-touch finish from the center, came in the 31st minute off a cross from Zinckernagel. Just moments later, Cuypers showcased his skill by cutting inside a defender at the left corner of the area and executing a calm rolling shot into the back post. With these goals, he matched his season total from 2024, bringing his tally to ten.
Orlando City, eager to rebound after a recent loss, scored their lone goal in the 40th minute thanks to Alex Freeman. The 20-year-old flicked in a header from a corner kick delivered by MartÃn Ojeda, marking his fourth goal of the current season.
Despite some spirited effort, Orlando City, now 7-4-6, endured back-to-back losses for the first time this season, as their 12-game unbeaten streak was halted.
