Police charge man for November shooting death of DC man


A man identified as 24-year-old Elijah Kamara has been arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Morris Haskins Jr. in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The shooting took place on November 8, 2024, at a park on Walker Mill Road. Haskins Jr. died the following day from his injuries. Police say that an argument between the two men led to the shooting, with the suspect and victim being known to each other.

Kamara was identified as a suspect in the case, and a warrant for his arrest was obtained on February 3, 2025. He was apprehended during a traffic stop on April 14 at the intersection of Walters Lane and Chavez Lane, where he attempted to flee on foot but was quickly caught by officers. Kamara is facing charges of first-degree murder and related offenses and is currently in custody with the Department of Corrections.
