Netherlands appoints Arjan Veurink as head coach following his tenure as England assistant coach during women’s Euro 2025.

Arjan Veurink, the Dutch assistant coach of the England women’s national team, will be returning to the Netherlands to lead the national team after the European Championship in July. Veurink has signed a four-year contract with the Dutch soccer federation, starting after his work with England at the Euros in Switzerland. Veurink, who has been working as the assistant coach alongside his mentor Sarina Wiegman, expressed his ambition to lead the Dutch national team after gaining experience at the highest level.

The Netherlands and England are set to face each other on July 9 in Zurich as part of the group stage of the European Championship. Both teams are among the favorites in Group D, which also includes France and Wales. Wiegman and Veurink previously won the European Championship together with the Dutch team in 2017 and later with England in 2022.

Veurink stated, “After over eight years of experience at the highest level as Sarina Wiegman’s right-hand man, first with the Netherlands and now in England, I feel ready to stand on my own.” The English federation confirmed that Veurink will continue to be a valuable member of Wiegman’s team. This move marks a significant career progression for Veurink and sets the stage for his leadership role with the Dutch national team.
