Pop superstar Katy Perry is set to join other prominent women, including Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez, in Blue Origin’s all-women rocket launch. The historic NS-31 mission will mark the first all-female crew since 1963, when Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman to travel to space.
The upcoming trip will give the crew a new perspective of Earth as they soar past the Kármán Line in an 11-minute ride. The journey will include about four minutes of weightlessness for the passengers.
The liftoff for Blue Origin’s New Shepard Mission NS-31 is scheduled for Monday, April 14, from Launch Site One in West Texas. The company will be airing a livestream of the event on its website, as well as on YouTube and CBS. The crew includes not only Perry, but also King, Sánchez, and three other accomplished women.
Blue Origin has teased the mission with photos of the crew in their designer space suits, as well as a patch for the NS-31 mission that includes elements representing each of the women on board.
This groundbreaking event is set to inspire young girls and showcase the accomplishments of women in the field of space exploration. Don’t miss out on this historic moment in space travel.
