This year’s Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan took place earlier in April, attracting visitors despite the city’s springtime pollen. The event has grown to rival the city’s fashion week, with big design brands launching new projects and collaborations. A collaboration between Studio Haddou Dufourcq and Pouenat focused on aluminum furniture, while Dimorestudio showcased a 1970s house and furry chairs in collaboration with Yves Salomon. Rop van Mierlo’s shag rugs and Casa Cabana’s craft show also caught the eye of fairgoers. Michael Anastassiades presented a multitude of lights, while Béton Brut revived Salvino Marsura’s legacy. The Visteria Foundation celebrated Polish design, while Jil Sander collaborated with Thonet on colorful chairs.
The fair also featured a maze of showers showcasing experimental glass pieces, as well as the work of various designers and artists curated by Martina Mondadori. Overall, the fair highlighted a diverse range of projects and collaborations that showcased innovation and creativity in the world of furniture design. With a focus on craftsmanship and new interpretations of classic designs, the Salone del Mobile continues to be a premier event in the design world.
