Two loaded guns discovered at Dulles Airport in the span of five days

In a concerning trend, three guns were detected at Dulles Airport within a five-day span, with two of them being loaded, as reported by TSA officers. The most recent incident occurred on April 8th, when a man was cited by police after a 9mm handgun loaded with eight bullets was discovered in his carry-on items at Washington Dulles International Airport. This is the third gun detected at the airport in a short period, with previous incidents involving a 9mm gun on April 6 and a .40-caliber gun on April 3, both of which were also loaded.

According to TSA officers, the gun was caught as the man entered the security checkpoint and was identified via the X-ray unit alerting on the man’s carry-on bag. The firearm, along with two magazines containing 16 additional bullets, was promptly detected and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority was notified.

The prevalence of guns being brought into airports continues to be a serious concern for security officials. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) emphasizes the importance of adhering to regulations regarding firearms when traveling in order to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff. This recent string of incidents serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and compliance with airport security protocols.
