President Trump has revoked security clearances and access to classified information for several prominent officials, including Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. The executive memo states that it is no longer in the national interest for these individuals to access classified information and directs all government agencies to revoke their clearances immediately.
The memo also specifies that these individuals will not have access to classified briefings or secure government facilities without an escort. Other officials named in the directive include Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Letitia James, and members of the Biden family.
This move follows the revocation of clearances for many individuals earlier this month by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. It is unclear if Clinton’s security clearance was later reinstated after being withdrawn in 2018 at her request.
Separately, Trump has also terminated Secret Service protection for Joe Biden’s adult children, Hunter and Ashley Biden. In January, he rescinded the security clearance of at least 50 former intelligence officials who signed a letter during the 2020 campaign regarding a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden.
This action is part of Trump’s ongoing efforts to limit access to classified information and comes as he continues to challenge the results of the 2020 election. The original article appeared on NBCNews.com.
