A strong cold front is expected to move through the D.C. region ahead of potential storms on Sunday, according to FOX 5’s Gwen Tolbart. Saturday will be overcast with clouds and temperatures in the high-upper 50s to low 60s. An evening forecast of mostly cloudy skies with a Southeast wind of 10-15mph gusting up to 25mph and temperatures in the low 50s is expected.

A Coastal Flood Advisory for Anne Arundel County is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, with up to half a foot of tidal flooding expected in low-lying areas. A Wind Advisory will be in effect from midnight to 2 p.m. for parts of Virginia and surrounding areas, with southern winds reaching 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.

The potential for thunderstorms remains uncertain, with the slight risk category for severe storms. The timing has shifted to the afternoon, favoring surface-based convection. Severe storms are still a possibility, with a potential expansion of the Wind Advisory on Sunday morning. Forecasted rain amounts are between 0.5 to 1 inch for most areas, with no major flood threat expected but possible drainage issues.

Overall, residents should be prepared for strong winds, potential flooding, and the possibility of severe thunderstorms on Sunday. Stay updated on weather advisories and be cautious of any outdoor activities.
