Marisa Moseley resigns from Wisconsin after four consecutive losing seasons.

Wisconsin women’s basketball coach Marisa Moseley has resigned after four seasons with a 47-75 record, leaving the program struggling in the Big Ten. The Badgers went 13-16 this season and lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Moseley cited personal reasons for her decision to step down and thanked the university, players, coaches, and fans for their support.

Associate head coach Margaret McKeon will serve as interim head coach as Wisconsin searches for a new coach. Moseley had faced allegations of mistreating a former player, but the university’s release announcing her departure did not mention those claims. The program has been struggling for over a decade, with its last NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010.

Moseley, who previously had success at Boston University and as an assistant at UConn, was unable to turn around Wisconsin’s program. Despite reaching a WNIT quarterfinal last year, the team has not had a winning record since the 2010-11 season. Athletic director Chris McIntosh thanked Moseley for her commitment and passion for coaching and wished her well in her future endeavors.

Wisconsin has begun a national search for Moseley’s replacement as they aim to rebuild and compete in the competitive Big Ten conference. Fans can stay updated on AP women’s college basketball with the AP Top 25 poll alerts throughout the season.
