A tragic police-involved collision in Capitol Heights, Maryland, has left a child dead and a woman hospitalized. The incident occurred on Friday night when officers attempted to stop an Infiniti SUV. The vehicle initially stopped but then fled from the officer, leading to a multi-vehicle crash on Addison Road South. The driver of the Infiniti was arrested with non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman and child in one of the cars struck by the Infiniti were hospitalized. The child later succumbed to their injuries. The other occupants of the vehicles involved sustained minor injuries. The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is conducting an inquiry into the events leading up to the crash. The officers involved were equipped with body-worn and dash cameras, with footage being reviewed as part of the investigation. The names of the officers are expected to be released within two business days. The identity of the deceased juvenile is being withheld according to privacy laws. Relevant footage will be released within 20 business days, pending any necessary delays for further investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Independent Investigations Division.
