Arlington County Police have arrested Timothy McGhee, a 47-year-old substitute teacher, for allegedly starting a sexual relationship with a high school student. The investigation began on Jan. 3 after authorities were notified of the inappropriate relationship that began in September 2022 at Washington-Liberty High School. McGhee was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child and stalking on Jan. 10. Police believe there may be other victims as McGhee has a history of interacting with minors, including volunteering with youth groups at a church and working as a substitute teacher in other Northern Virginia jurisdictions.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have had inappropriate encounters with McGhee or has information related to the case to contact Detective S.
