Bond denied for suspect charged with the murder of Prince George’s County activist Cornelius McDonald

Terrelle Bailey, a 35-year-old man accused of shooting and killing Prince George’s County activist Cornelius McDonald, has been denied bond. McDonald, a crisis hotline worker and youth advocate, was killed during an argument at a restaurant in Largo. Bailey, a special police officer in D.C., claimed self-defense in the shooting, but prosecutors argued against granting him bond due to the severity of the case. A video circulating on social media allegedly shows Bailey bragging about the shooting. The judge agreed with the state’s argument and ordered Bailey to remain behind bars. The community has been mourning the loss of McDonald, who was known for his advocacy work supporting youth mental health. State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy expressed sadness over McDonald’s death and stated that the quick arrest and cooperation from witnesses will help bring justice for his family. McDonald’s family is determined to continue his advocacy work in his honor. Bailey’s preliminary hearing is set for January 2nd.
