A grandmother named Elizabeth Pollard, 64, is feared to have fallen into a sinkhole in a southwest Pennsylvania village while searching for her cat. The rescue efforts have been ongoing for two days, with local, state, and federal agencies involved in the search. The abandoned mine where the search is taking place is becoming compromised, raising safety concerns. Pollard was last seen around 5 p.m. on Monday, and her car was found with her 5-year-old granddaughter inside, but she was missing. More than 100 people are involved in the rescue efforts, with additional resources being brought in to support the search. The Unity Township Bureau of Fire is asking people to avoid the area to allow crews to operate safely. The Union Restaurant in Unity Township has remained closed during the search efforts. State Rep. Leslie Rossi expressed condolences to the Pollard family and mentioned the additional help being brought in to aid in the search. The search is ongoing, and the community is hoping for a safe resolution to the situation.
