President-elect Donald Trump is adding controversial figures to his incoming administration, with the latest pick being Kash Patel, a strong Trump supporter, for potential FBI director. Patel’s agenda focuses on dismantling the “deep state” within the national security bureaucracy. Trump may have to fire current FBI director Christopher Wray to nominate Patel. Trump has also named Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister to lead the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, highlighting the administration’s focus on fentanyl trafficking. These picks, along with others in the Trump administration, are likely to face difficult confirmation hearings.
Patel, a former prosecutor and Trump loyalist, has advocated for retribution against the media and has pushed false claims of a rigged election. Chronister, who previously received a pardon from Trump’s administration, has ties to former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been selected as Attorney General in the upcoming administration.
Several other key appointments in the Trump administration include U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Scott Bessent as Treasury Secretary, and Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary. Trump has also nominated individuals for roles such as Secretary of Health and Human Services, Secretary of Education, and U.S. Ambassador to Israel.
Some notable picks in Trump’s administration include Stephen Miller as deputy chief of staff for policy, Tom Homan as “border czar,” and Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education. Overall, Trump continues to assemble a team of individuals who align with his policies and vision for the country.
