Deceased pilot’s family in Virginia receives ashes of puppy killed in tragic plane crash

The family of a pilot and a puppy killed in a tragic plane crash last month received the ashes of their loved ones in Northern Virginia. The 5-month-old puppy, named Lisa, was being transported to New York by 49-year-old pilot Seuk Kim for a second chance at life when they both tragically died in the crash. The pilot’s family expressed their gratitude for the reunion of the ashes of pilot and puppy. Volunteer pilot Chris Moon flew from Virginia to Albany to bring back Lisa’s ashes, which were then received by Kim’s sons at Leesburg Executive Airport. Kim had a passion for volunteering and had flown numerous missions transporting rescue dogs to different adoption agencies. The family is planning a memorial for Seuk and hopes to bury Lisa next to him.

The small aircraft carrying three rescue dogs crashed into a wooded area about 35 miles from Albany, with poor visibility being cited as a factor in the crash. The two other dogs on board survived and are receiving medical attention. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are still investigating the crash. Seuk Kim’s dedication to animal rescue has touched many lives, prompting an outpouring of support for his family. The tragic accident has highlighted the risks and challenges faced by volunteer pilots in animal rescue missions.
