Investigation underway after blast at Missouri home leaves 6 injured

A home explosion in Missouri over Thanksgiving weekend resulted in a residence being reduced to rubble and six people being injured, three critically. The blast occurred in eastern Jefferson City early Saturday morning, with emergency responders finding multiple victims with injuries ranging from moderate to severe. Critical care interventions were provided on the scene, with two victims being flown to University Hospital in Columbia and the remaining four transported by ground. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. The Jefferson City Fire Department, with assistance from Public Works, worked to clear debris and remove victims from the collapsed home. The rescue operation was challenging due to the extensive structural collapse and debris. All six victims, as well as two pets, were safely removed from the debris. The emergency response involved various units from the fire department, police department, and medical personnel. The severe damage caused by the explosion was felt by residents for miles, with images showing the collapsed wooden structures and scattered home appliances. The area remained at the scene to clear remaining smoke and debris, with utility workers assisting in the aftermath. Rescue operations were completed just before 6 a.m., with all victims safely accounted for and receiving medical attention.
