Guide to viewing the 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting on NBC New York

This season’s Rockefeller Christmas Tree has arrived in New York City and is set to be illuminated on Wednesday, Dec. 4 with 50,000 multi-colored LED lights. The tree, a massive Norway spruce standing 74 feet tall and 43 feet wide, will be part of the annual holiday celebration in Rockefeller Plaza.

Hosted by Kelly Clarkson, the “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” event will feature performances from artists such as Jennifer Hudson, the Backstreet Boys, and the Radio City Rockettes. The tree lighting ceremony will air live on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 4.

For those who want to watch the tree lighting in person, the event will take place at Rockefeller Center in New York City. VIP tickets are available for a closer view, while the tree will be lit daily from 5 a.m. to midnight, with an extended lighting on Christmas Eve.

The 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was donated by Earl Albert from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, in honor of his late wife. The tree has been cared for by head gardener Erik Pauze for more than four years and will be on display to the public through mid-January 2025. After being taken down, the tree will be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
