San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey suffered a knee injury and had to leave the game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. The injury occurred in the second quarter when McCaffrey stepped awkwardly on a sweep play on the snow-covered field. He did not return to the game, and the Niners announced that he would not be coming back at the start of the third quarter. This was McCaffrey’s fourth game of the season after missing the first eight games due to Achilles tendinitis. Before the injury, he had a 19-yard run, his longest of the season, and had a total of 53 rushing yards and 14 receiving yards.
In addition to McCaffrey, the Niners also had defensive lineman Kevin Givens ruled out with a chest injury, and linebacker Fred Warner briefly left the game due to cramps but returned later. Despite the setbacks, the team continued to play against the Bills, but McCaffrey’s absence was a significant blow. The status of his knee injury and how long he will be out of action is currently unknown. Fans and the team will be eagerly awaiting updates on McCaffrey’s condition as they look ahead to future games.
