In response to this issue, the Adams Morgan Partnership BID has installed two new trash cans specifically designed to accommodate jumbo pizza boxes. These new cans, located at strategic points along 18th Street NW, aim to keep the area cleaner and more organized. The Executive Director of the BID, Kristen Barden, explained that while the new trash cans are not completely rat-proof, they provide a better solution for collecting and organizing pizza boxes for disposal.
Local residents and businesses in the area have expressed their appreciation for the new trash cans. Muhammad, who lives above The Jumbo Pizza Mart, highlighted the positive impact on the environment and cleanliness of the neighborhood. Managers at local businesses, such as Andy’s Pizza, also welcomed the initiative, citing the reduction in pizza box litter on the streets.
