Candace Owens denied visa for speaking tour in New Zealand and Australia.

New Zealand has denied a visa application from conservative media personality Candace Owens, who had a speaking tour scheduled in cities in New Zealand and Australia for February and March of 2025. This decision came after Australia canceled Owens’ visa, citing her capacity to incite discord. Immigration New Zealand confirmed that Owens’ “Entertainers Work Visa” had been denied on Nov. 19, due to a rule that bars applicants who have been excluded from another country.

Owens, a far-right commentator with a history of spreading antisemitic rhetoric, including Holocaust denial and revisionism, plans to appeal Australia’s decision. Australian Immigration Minister Tony Burke mentioned Owens’ rhetoric as a reason for the denial, including comments downplaying the Holocaust and claims about Muslims starting slavery. Owens responded by accusing Burke of lying and leaking the decision to the press, claiming he was trying to paint her as a scary figure akin to Adolf Hitler.

Owens had previously been suspended from the YouTube Partner Program for violating ad-friendly and community guidelines. She has encountered controversy for her statements and views on various issues. Despite these challenges, Owens remains active on her podcast and YouTube channel, using her platform to share her controversial beliefs.
