Local DC neighborhood mechanic crashes vehicle into home, then runs off – captured in a viral TikTok video. The incident occurred on Xenia St. in Southeast D.C. when the driver, a mechanic in the neighborhood, was allegedly testing brakes on a customer’s car. The brakes failed, causing the car to crash through fences before slamming into Toni Sanders’ home.
Sanders recorded the driver fleeing the scene after the crash on her phone, expressing disbelief as she knew the driver personally and had interactions with him before. The driver initially returned to the scene but then fled again when he couldn’t drive the car due to damage. DC Police have been in contact with everyone involved, and the driver stated he ran off to secure his tools down the road.
Although Sanders maintains a sense of humor about the situation, she now faces the challenges of dealing with homeowner’s and auto insurance to repair the damage to her property. She expressed gratitude that the incident did not result in more serious consequences, considering the damage could have been much worse if the car had hit her or the gas line near her porch.
The driver has not yet faced charges and the case is with the District Attorney’s office for further review. In the meantime, Sanders and other neighbors affected by damaged fences are left to clean up and repair the aftermath of the unexpected crash.
