Virginia father Seuk Kim, known for his dedication to rescuing animals and flying planes, tragically lost his life in a plane crash in New York while transporting rescue dogs. The 49-year-old pilot was flying three dogs from Maryland to Albany when he lost control of the aircraft due to poor visibility and turbulence, crashing into a wooded area. Kim died on impact, along with one of the dogs. Despite the tragic outcome, the two other dogs survived with injuries and were rescued from the crash site.
Kim, who earned his pilot’s license four years ago, was passionate about combining his love for flying with a commitment to helping others, particularly in the animal rescue community. His 16-year-old daughter, Leah Kim, shared that her father spent his final years devoted to saving animals and fulfilling his passion for flying.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. Organizations like Pilots N Paws, with whom Kim worked closely, expressed their sorrow at his passing and recognized his selfless and compassionate efforts in flying rescue missions.
A fundraiser has been launched to support Kim’s family during this difficult time. As the holidays approach, Leah Kim encourages everyone to cherish their loved ones a little bit tighter, emphasizing the unpredictability of life. Seuk Kim’s legacy as a dedicated animal rescuer and pilot will continue to inspire others to join the cause and honor his memory.
