Thanksgiving has arrived in Washington, D.C., and over 250 bars have been granted extended hours to mark the occasion. Starting Wednesday, these establishments are allowed to serve alcohol until 4 a.m. Bars have also been authorized to operate 24 hours during the holiday period this year. However, today, known as “Blackout Wednesday,” is notorious for binge-drinking, prompting authorities to urge responsible drinking and not driving after drinking. Thanksgiving is one of the deadliest holidays on the road, leading area police to increase patrols and warn against leaving valuables in cars. Customers are advised to call ahead to check if their chosen establishment is extending holiday hours.
The full list of establishments with extended hours includes popular spots like The Park Place at 14th, Le Diplomate, and Uproar. Other bars and restaurants also are on the list, allowing patrons ample options for late-night enjoyment over the holiday weekend from Wednesday through Sunday. With a plethora of options available, patrons are sure to find a spot to celebrate the holiday season responsibly and safely. Police presence will increase to ensure the safety of all celebrants and to maintain order during the Thanksgiving festivities in the nation’s capital.
