D.C. DJ Bryan Smith’s Family Seeks Help After Violent Robbery
WASHINGTON – The family of Bryan Smith, a popular Washington, D.C. DJ, is urgently appealing for public assistance following a brutal robbery that left him unconscious and in a coma. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on the 500 block of T Street Northwest after Smith had finished his shift.
According to D.C. police, Smith was assaulted by two suspects who stole his phone and wallet, which contained credit cards. First responders discovered Smith suffering from serious injuries, including blood on his nose and hands, around 5 a.m. His family is now by his side, hoping for his recovery.
Surveillance images of the suspects and their vehicle have been released as detectives work to establish the details surrounding the incident. Tyler, Smith’s boyfriend, spoke exclusively to FOX 5, expressing his heartbreak but emphasizing the need to remain strong for Smith. "I just want them to get caught and stop," Tyler said, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Police have linked the suspects to at least three additional crimes that took place shortly after the attack on Smith. At 5:50 a.m., they were involved in an assault and attempted robbery on the 1900 block of 14th Street Northwest, followed by another robbery on Vermont Avenue at 6:05 a.m., and yet another attack at 7:30 a.m. on Rhode Island Avenue Northeast.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Meanwhile, Smith’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his medical expenses. Authorities encourage anyone with information to reach out to D.C. police as the investigation continues.
