46 people were hospitalized for food poisoning in Maryland after an employee at NAFCO Wholesale Seafood Distributors shared a homemade meal with coworkers. The incident occurred in Jessup, about 15 miles southwest of Baltimore. Firefighters and paramedics responded to employees showing symptoms of food poisoning. The employee had prepared the food at home over the weekend and distributed it during their shift, which was not sanctioned by the company. Most of the affected employees were treated and released from the hospital. The Howard County Health Department confirmed that the cause of the food poisoning came from outside the distributor and that no other consumers or outlets were affected. NAFCO emphasized their commitment to food safety and stated that their products are safely produced and consumed nationwide. The investigation is ongoing, but there is no risk of further illnesses connected to this incident.
