Billionaire Elon Musk has increased his financial offer for registered swing state voters to sign a conservative-leaning petition supporting free speech and the right to bear arms. Initially offering $47, Musk is now offering $100 for signees and those who refer them, with a deadline of Monday night, coinciding with the Pennsylvania voter registration deadline.
Musk, who has vocally urged swing state voters in Pennsylvania to vote for former President Donald Trump, has previously vowed to stay apolitical but has recently thrown his support behind conservatives. He has donated $75 million to his own pro-Trump super PAC and has been hosting town hall events in Pennsylvania in support of Trump.
Despite facing scrutiny for his actions, Musk’s America PAC has paid for ads for voter registration in swing states and previously collected voter data to direct certain zip codes to register to vote. Although election officials in Michigan and North Carolina investigated the PAC’s actions, no evidence of violating state campaign finance laws was found.
Musk, who is the most-followed person on X (formerly Twitter) with over 200 million followers, has pushed false and inflammatory claims on various topics, including immigration, free speech, and voter fraud. His efforts to mobilize voters in swing states highlight his increasing involvement in the political landscape as the 2024 election approaches.
