In Baltimore, two men have been indicted by a grand jury and charged with the killing of at least seven people, suspected to be hitmen for a gang. Cornell Moore and Keith Russell, both aged 38, are accused of using stolen cars to carry out shootings, including a 2022 double homicide of a man and his pregnant fiancée. Sadly, the fiancée died, but doctors were able to deliver the baby. The men have also been charged with three nonfatal shootings and a series of carjackings dating back to 2020.
Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates called this one of his office’s most significant prosecutions since taking office early last year. He stated that more arrests are expected as law enforcement works to dismantle the criminal enterprise. Bates described Moore and Russell as hitmen following orders from gang members, without disclosing the gang’s name.
The gang allegedly compensated members for committing acts of violence to further the organization’s goals and eliminate threats from rival groups. One of the homicides took place in Baltimore County. Attorneys for Moore and Russell have not been listed in online court records for this case. Bates emphasized the seriousness and calculated nature of these alleged acts, calling for swift consequences. This case is ongoing, with more developments expected in the future.
