Harris mobilizes Black male voters and criticizes Trump’s endorsement of ‘stop and frisk’

In a recent press article, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris addressed concerns about harsh policing tactics that disproportionately affect Black men in the United States. During a radio town hall, she promised to push for legislation to address discriminatory law enforcement practices and work to decriminalize marijuana to reduce arrests that disproportionately impact Black men. Harris acknowledged racial disparities in various aspects of life for Black people, including home ownership, healthcare, and voting.

Her warnings come as President Donald Trump focuses on women voters and faces criticism for his stance on abortion rights and transgender athletes. Harris and Trump are both working to energize key constituencies as the election approaches, with a small shift in voter support potentially impacting the outcome.

Harris emphasized the importance of voting in a tight race, despite ongoing racial bias and disparities. She also discussed reparations for descendants of enslaved people, highlighting the need for further study on the issue. In contrast, Trump has advocated for aggressive policing tactics like stop and frisk, while Harris criticized his lack of a plan for Black Americans.

Harris recently announced proposals to support economic opportunities for Black men, including forgivable business loans and apprenticeships. Former President Barack Obama has also spoken out to encourage Black male voters to support Harris. Ultimately, both candidates are vying for support among various demographics, with Harris aiming to retain solid support among women and Trump seeking to narrow the margins on Election Day.
