The Surprising Souvenir Al Pacino Holds Dear

Acclaimed actor Al Pacino recently revealed that despite his iconic roles in films such as “The Godfather” and “Scarface,” he does not usually take home souvenirs from movie sets due to fear of losing them, citing his nomadic lifestyle. The one exception is a homemade Oscar trophy gifted to him by fans after being snubbed by the Academy Awards for his role in “Scarface.”

Pacino recalled the fan’s thoughtful gesture, calling the oversized Oscar trophy a significant gift that he still keeps at home. Although Pacino had already been nominated for five Oscars by the time “Scarface” was released, he eventually won Best Actor at the 1993 Oscars for his role in “Scent of a Woman.”

Reflecting on his long career, Pacino’s new memoir, “Sonny Boy: A Memoir,” delves into his life’s work, including his early roles in independent films. Furthermore, the actor recently shared a harrowing experience with COVID-19, revealing that he had a near-death encounter when his heart stopped, and paramedics had to revive him.

Despite the scary incident, Pacino sees his family as a source of consolation and views his extensive body of work as his legacy. Looking forward, the actor remains grateful for the experiences life has presented to him and approaches the topic of death with acceptance rather than fear.
