Two men have been arrested in connection with the beating death of a homeless man in a Brooklyn supermarket parking lot. The victim, Cos Jervis Jonas Ajpuac, was attacked along with another man while they were sleeping. The assailants used metal pipes and a baseball bat in the assault, resulting in Ajpuac’s death on Oct. 2. The other man survived the attack. According to a store security worker, the victims and suspects were all regulars at the ShopRite supermarket where they would redeem bottles and cans. They were said to be friends who would drink beer together after cashing in their recyclables. The motive for the attack is still unknown.
The suspects are currently awaiting arraignment, and it is unclear if they have legal representation. The community is shocked by this tragic incident, and authorities are investigating the crime further. The Associated Press will continue to provide updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
