Alleged MS-13 gang member Elmer Alas Candray is currently on trial in Northern Virginia for his role in six brutal murders across Fairfax County and Massachusetts. The trial, taking place in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, began on October 7 and is expected to last three weeks. Candray, a high-ranking member of MS-13 from El Salvador, is accused of committing the murders between 2018 and 2022 in Northern Virginia. The court documents describe the killings as extremely violent, involving stabbings, shootings, dismemberment, and the disposal of body parts.
One of the victims, 24-year-old Jose Guillen Mejia, was found dead in 2019 in Reston with multiple gunshot wounds. Prosecutors allege that Mejia was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he was the first person encountered by Candray and his associates in an area they considered their turf. In addition to the murders, Candray is also accused of distributing cocaine and marijuana throughout Virginia and beyond.
If convicted on all charges, including federal racketeering, murder, and firearm offenses, Candray could face life in prison. The trial has brought to light the extreme violence and criminal activities associated with the MS-13 gang in the area. FOX 5 has covered the case extensively, highlighting the heinous nature of the crimes allegedly committed by Candray. This trial serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by gang activity and the importance of holding those responsible for such acts accountable for their actions.
