Siesta Key Following Milton and Helene

Following the passage of Hurricane Milton in Florida on October 10, 2024, residents of Siesta Key were seen assessing the damage and enjoying the post-storm peace on Crescent Beach. The low-lying barrier island had been hit hard by Hurricane Milton, following closely behind Hurricane Helene. Despite the two major storms within two weeks, some areas of the island appeared unaffected from a certain perspective. However, scenes of floodwaters, flooded areas, and residents being rescued or checking on their homes were also captured on that day.

Maria Williams was seen climbing down from a truck near her home, while James and Jessica Dupont enjoyed the peace on Crescent Beach. A person was seen biking past a sign for Siesta Key, which had been hit hard by Hurricane Milton, while another waded through floodwaters. Kathleen Killeen rode in the back of a vintage military truck after checking on her house down flooded Midnight Pass Road. Nicholas Weppner and his girlfriend helped residents access their flooded homes using Weppner’s vintage military 6×6 truck nicknamed “Big Boy.”

The aftermath of Hurricane Milton on Siesta Key showcased a mix of scenes, from calm post-storm moments to areas of destruction and flooding. Residents were seen coming together to support each other and assess the impact of the storm on their community.
