Police officer from Prince George’s County faces charges for driving stolen vehicles and appears in court

A Prince George’s County police officer, Sierra Alston, appeared in court after being charged with illegally using stolen vehicles that belonged to a rental car company. Alston, who was suspended without pay, did not steal the cars but was found to have used three stolen BMWs. The rental car company, SIXT, discovered a total of 30 missing vehicles from their fleet earlier this year. Alston did not provide an explanation for how she came to possess the stolen cars and declined to comment when approached by FOX 5. The company did not respond to inquiries about the missing vehicles, only stating they were working with the police on the issue.

Jim McCarthy, a retired rental car company security manager, acknowledged that missing vehicles are not uncommon in the industry but noted that 30 cars at one location is significant. Alston is currently only facing charges for using three of the stolen cars, with no connection established to the other 27 missing vehicles. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December. The case raises questions about security measures within rental car companies and highlights the potential for theft and fraud within the industry. The public remains curious about how Alston acquired the stolen cars and what led to the disappearance of the other missing vehicles.
